Cambridge and Edexcel IGCSE Physics courses
Cambridge students are taught only for IGCSE Physics 0625 or 0972. Pearson Edexcel students follow either the linear International GCSE Physics 4PH1 course or the modular International GCSE Physics 4XPH1 course. Topic teaching, question selection and exam preparation stay aligned with the chosen route.
Across the specifications, lessons build command of mechanics, thermal physics, waves, electricity, magnetism and atomic physics. Shared ideas are taught from first principles; board-specific assessment is then trained separately.
Cambridge IGCSE Physics 0625/0972 and Paper 6
For Cambridge IGCSE Physics, preparation follows the relevant 0625 or 0972 paper structure. Paper 6 Alternative to Practical is taught as a repeatable method: read the apparatus, identify variables, process the data and state conclusions in language that answers the mark scheme.
Edexcel International GCSE Physics 4PH1 and 4XPH1
Pearson Edexcel 4PH1 is the linear International GCSE Physics route, assessed through Papers 1P and 2P. Pearson Edexcel 4XPH1 is the modular cash-in route, with units 4WPH1/1P and 4WPH2/1P. Students are prepared for the route they are enrolled in, without mixing paper references or revision priorities.
A precise method for IGCSE Physics marks
Lessons connect the physics to the way marks are awarded: calculations are set out cleanly, definitions use the required precision, longer answers follow a logical chain, and practical questions distinguish observations from conclusions. Homework and exam-style work are selected for the student's board and route.

Which IGCSE physics exam boards does Dr Desouky teach?

The name IGCSE Physics alone does not identify the papers you will sit. Look for the code on your school course information or statement of entry. What is the difference between Edexcel 4PH1 and 4XPH1?
Edexcel 4PH1 is the linear International GCSE Physics qualification assessed through Papers 1P and 2P. Edexcel 4XPH1 is the modular qualification, using units 4WPH1 and 4WPH2. Choose tuition and revision material using your entry code, because the assessment routes differ.
Do not choose papers just because the topic title matches your homework. A modular unit gathers a defined set of topics into its own examination; a linear paper has a different content map. Your school or examination centre confirms the route, while tutoring can then follow the correct paper sequence.

Does the course prepare Cambridge students for practical questions?
Yes. Cambridge IGCSE Physics preparation includes experimental skills for the student's practical or alternative-to-practical route. Students work on measurements, variables, tables, graphs, conclusions and evaluation, including dedicated Paper 6 preparation where that is their examination entry.
A good practical answer explains what the student would measure, what would be changed and what would stay constant. An improvement must address a particular limitation: repeating measurements can reduce the effect of random variation, but does not automatically remove a zero error. These distinctions matter even when the examination itself is written.
Are Edexcel linear and modular students taught from the same papers?
Edexcel linear and modular students need route-specific paper practice. Their physics overlaps, but 4PH1 Papers 1P and 2P are not interchangeable with the 4WPH1 and 4WPH2 modular unit papers. Revision priorities follow the student's registered assessment.
A shared electricity question can be useful for learning a concept. It does not turn a linear paper into a valid modular mock, or prove that its topic coverage matches your next unit. For timed practice, use the correct code, then mark and review the paper against that paper's own mark scheme.
How do I decide what to revise after a disappointing IGCSE Physics mock?
Start with the marked paper and separate lost marks into missing knowledge, calculation errors, unclear explanations and practical skills. Then repair the most frequent weaknesses with short topic practice before attempting another full paper. A low mock mark alone does not identify the right revision plan.
For example, repeated unit-conversion mistakes across density, energy and electricity suggest a common skill to fix rather than three unrelated topics to reread. A student who knows equations but cannot explain why a result changes needs a different task: write a short causal explanation, check it, and apply it to a new context.
Can students catch up if they join an IGCSE group after it has started?
