Dr Mohamed Desouky teaches the linear Edexcel International GCSE Physics course, with in-person lessons in Khalidiya, near Abu Dhabi Corniche, and live online classes across the UAE and Gulf. Lessons explain the physics and develop the skills needed for Papers 1P and 2P.

Paper 1P is a 2-hour written examination worth 110 marks, or 61.1% of 4PH1. It assesses the specification content that is not shown in bold and does not carry a P reference. Questions can come from every topic area.
Paper 2P lasts 1 hour 15 minutes and is worth 70 marks, or 38.9%. It assesses all content, including the deeper bold P statements, and can also test the foundations assessed in Paper 1P. Both papers use a mixture of multiple choice, short answers, calculations and extended open responses.
Paper 2P is not simply a shorter paper on a separate list of topics. It adds specification depth while retaining access to the full course, so weak fundamentals can cost marks twice. Preparation is mapped statement by statement: core content is secured first, then the P material is layered onto it.
Students also learn to recognise where the command word changes the task. “State”, “describe”, “explain”, “calculate” and “evaluate” require different evidence, even when the underlying topic is the same.
4PH1 rewards more than a final numerical answer. Substitution, rearrangement, significant figures, units and a conclusion in context all matter. Multi-stage calculations are taught as visible chains so method marks remain available even when arithmetic slips.
Experimental skills are assessed in writing across the papers. Students practise variables, methods, tables, graphs, conclusions and evaluation alongside each topic, rather than leaving practical questions for the final weeks.
Live online group sessions are 90 minutes and cost AED 150. The schedule is agreed with students and groups, allowing the pace to follow their school coverage and examination date.
Weekly homework is checked individually against the relevant 4PH1 skill, while regular exams test cumulative retention across both papers. Direct WhatsApp access gives students a route to ask Dr Desouky about a calculation, mark-scheme point or homework correction before the next class.
This course is for students entered for the linear Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Physics qualification 4PH1. It suits students learning the course from the beginning, candidates who understand lessons but underperform on papers, and those who need a clean distinction between Paper 1P foundations and Paper 2P depth.
It is not the newer modular route. Students entered for unit codes 4WPH1/1P and 4WPH2/1P should use the Edexcel International GCSE Physics Modular course, where preparation follows two separately assessed units and the 4XPH1 cash-in.
