Cambridge candidates take three components: a 45-minute, 40-mark multiple-choice paper; a 1-hour-15-minute, 80-mark theory paper; and either the 1-hour-15-minute Paper 5 Practical Test or the 1-hour, 40-mark Paper 6 Alternative to Practical. The practical component contributes 20% of the qualification.
For 0625, Core candidates take Papers 1 and 3, while Extended candidates take Papers 2 and 4; both routes then take Paper 5 or Paper 6. The 0972 syllabus reports grades on the 9–1 scale. Dr Desouky works from the student's actual syllabus code, tier and component entry rather than treating every Cambridge paper as interchangeable.
Paper 6 assesses the same experimental skills as the practical route without asking the candidate to perform the experiment in the examination. Students must read instruments, organise tables, plot and use graphs, identify variables, plan methods, judge reliability and suggest specific improvements.
Generic phrases such as “repeat the experiment” are rarely enough. Training focuses on matching an improvement to a named limitation, writing a reproducible method, handling significant figures and units consistently, and extracting a conclusion that the data actually supports.
The most expensive mistakes are often small: choosing a plausible distractor without checking the unit, omitting a stage of working, confusing a definition with an explanation, or drawing a best-fit line mechanically. These are assessment problems as much as knowledge problems.
Each topic is therefore practised in all the forms Cambridge uses. A principle learned in words may next appear as a calculation, an unfamiliar graph or an experimental decision, so understanding has to travel between contexts.
Each live online group session lasts 90 minutes and costs AED 150. Schedules are agreed with students and groups, so the class can be placed around school and the relevant examination series.
Weekly homework is checked individually, regular exams show whether methods survive under time, and students have direct WhatsApp access to Dr Desouky for questions between sessions. Feedback is tied to the student's Cambridge component route, including dedicated Paper 6 work where applicable.
The course is for 0625 or 0972 students who want complete teaching, focused paper practice or a structured repair of weak areas. It is especially useful for Extended candidates aiming high, students whose knowledge is stronger than their exam execution, and candidates who need Paper 6 ATP taught as a method rather than a collection of memorised answers.

Alternative to Practical still tests experimental understanding. A student should explain how to obtain reliable measurements and why a proposed change improves the method. For example, placing the eye perpendicular to a scale targets parallax; repeating readings targets random variation. Those are different problems and need different explanations.
For Cambridge 0625, Core candidates take Papers 1 and 3 plus Paper 5 or 6. Extended candidates take Papers 2 and 4 plus Paper 5 or 6. Extended includes the Supplement content as well as Core, so preparation must match the route selected by the school or examination centre.
Core and Extended are not simply two names for the same paper with a different target grade. They have different theory and multiple-choice components and different grade ranges: 0625 Core offers C–G, while Extended offers A*–G. Discuss entry decisions with the school using current work and the student's progression requirements.

A student moving from Cambridge IGCSE to Edexcel IAS should first confirm that the school is making that board transition. The change is manageable with the appropriate course, but the qualification needs to be identified before choosing papers, practical preparation or a tuition group.
Review why the wrong option was tempting, not just which option was correct. Check the physical relationship, units, graph axes and any words that limit the situation. For calculations, show short working so a correct guess does not get mistaken for secure understanding.
If a distractor uses mass where weight was required, the repair is conceptual rather than more arithmetic. If the answer changes because a graph uses minutes instead of seconds, practise reading scales and converting units. Keep a short error log, then test the same principle in a different question without looking at the earlier answer.
Knowing the topic does not always produce a complete written explanation. Match the command word, state the relevant physical relationship and connect it to the situation in the question. A description of what happens may be incomplete when the question asks why it happens.
For example, saying that a gas has a higher pressure describes a result. An explanation at constant volume links higher temperature to faster particle motion and a greater rate of momentum transfer to the walls. Practise the chain of reasoning, then check whether each sentence answers the particular question rather than repeating a memorised paragraph.
