AS Physics: the first stage of Edexcel A-Level
The Pearson Edexcel International AS Physics award XPH11 is built from WPH11 Mechanics and Materials, WPH12 Waves and Electricity, and WPH13 Practical Skills in Physics I. Teaching keeps those unit boundaries visible while connecting the ideas that recur across papers.
A2 Physics: completing your Edexcel A-Level
The full Pearson Edexcel International A-Level Physics award YPH11 comprises all six units WPH11-WPH16. The A2-stage units are WPH14 Further Mechanics, Fields and Particles; WPH15 Thermodynamics, Radiation, Oscillations and Cosmology; and WPH16 Practical Skills in Physics II.
A-Level Physics exam preparation by unit
Past-paper work is organised by the WPH unit the student is preparing to sit. Lessons train derivations, multi-step calculations, graph and data analysis, practical reasoning and the precise written explanations expected in Pearson Edexcel mark schemes.

Which A-Level Physics exam board does Dr Desouky teach?
Dr Desouky teaches Pearson Edexcel International AS and A-Level Physics: IAS XPH11 and the full IAL award YPH11. This is the International specification with WPH11–WPH16 units. Confirm your course code before joining, because UK Edexcel and Cambridge A-Level are different qualifications.
The label A-Level Physics can describe several specifications. Similar topic names do not mean the paper structure, practical assessment or expected depth is identical. A statement of entry or a school course outline is more reliable than a textbook cover when identifying which tuition group and practice papers fit your course.
What is the difference between XPH11 and YPH11?
XPH11 is the Edexcel International AS Physics award based on WPH11, WPH12 and WPH13. YPH11 is the full International A-Level Physics award, combining those three IAS units with WPH14, WPH15 and WPH16. The later three units are usually called the A2 stage.
The award code and the paper code do different jobs: XPH11 or YPH11 identifies the qualification, while a WPH code identifies a particular unit. Keep both in your revision plan. A student preparing WPH14 still needs earlier mechanics and mathematical methods when a question builds on that knowledge.
Can a student join for the A2-stage units only?
Yes. Students can join for Edexcel IAL Physics units WPH14–WPH16 after completing their IAS study elsewhere. Teaching revisits the earlier mechanics, waves, electricity and practical reasoning needed for the later units, while the group choice follows the student's intended examinations.
Bring a recent IAS paper or marked work as well as the target unit code. That makes it easier to distinguish an A2 topic gap from an earlier skill that is limiting progress. For example, a field problem may require new physics while the lost marks actually come from vectors, signs or rearranging an equation.
How much is online Edexcel International A-Level Physics tutoring?

Is M1 Mechanics part of Pearson Edexcel IAL Physics?
No. M1 Mechanics, WME01/01, is an Edexcel International A-Level Mathematics unit taught separately from Physics. Edexcel IAL Physics uses WPH11–WPH16. Forces and motion appear in both subjects, but the specifications, papers and mathematical expectations are different.
Check whether your question is from a Mathematics M1 paper or a Physics WPH paper before choosing a class. A mechanics diagram can help both students, but completing M1 does not replace any of the six Physics units. The M1 course has its own modelling, vector and algebra practice.
Why might an A-Level Physics student do many past papers without improving?
Past papers help when the mistakes lead to a change in understanding or method. Repeating papers without reviewing why marks were lost can repeat the same gaps. Separate errors in the physical model, mathematics, written explanation and practical reasoning, then practise the weakest skill directly.
After marking a paper, choose a few errors and write what you would do differently before the next attempt. If a solution only makes sense while the mark scheme is open, close it and reconstruct the argument. A successful retry on a fresh question is stronger evidence of improvement than recognising a familiar worked answer.
What should I send when asking about A-Level Physics tuition?
Send the qualification and unit codes, intended exam series, current school topics and a recent marked paper if available. Mention whether you need in-person lessons in Abu Dhabi or live online classes. These details help match the course and identify what needs attention first.
